You are a mage. The city does not know that yet.

Thought Rot is a  hex: you aim a corrupting hex and convert a living crowd, citizen by citizen. They still walk the streets. Their neighbors start to notice.

Nobody will Trust No One — because after a few pulses, nobody in this city is still themselves.

Spreading the attract the attention of the Inquisition. Reporters who reach a temple spike it. At some point, the Inquisitors arrive and they do not negotiate. Everything you stole that round still pays. Then you grow the curse and go back in.

How to play

  1. On the hub, buy the free node Awaken Thought Rot, then press Start.
  2. Aim the circle. Left-click once to fire the first pulse. After that it pulses on its own — you only choose where.
  3. WASD pans the camera. Mouse wheel zooms. Convert walking crowds. Stop Reporters before they reach a report point.
  4. When the Alarm hits threshold, the sweep begins. Spend Souls and Blood on the upgrade tree. Repeat.
  5. Claim the eight seals. Own all seven deadly sins to win. The hub stays open after victory if you want more.

Nothing is wasted. A short round still banks currency for the next one.

The loop

  • Positioning, not clicking — after the first pulse, the hex runs itself around your cursor.
  • Three currencies: Souls for conversions, Blood for kills, Sin for claimed tasks.
  • An upgrade tree of hex radius / strength / frequency, seekers, explosions, denser crowds, and the seven deadly sins.
  • Three maps: North Village, Borderline Town, Central City.
  • A sequential task chain. Break the last seal and the city is yours.

Controls

  • Mouse — aim the influence radius
  • LMB — start the first pulse (required each round)
  • WASD — pan camera
  • Mouse wheel — zoom

Added better UX/UI + better tutorial

Nice one!

I almost feel bad for the Inquisitors here… Almost.

(Click “View rest” for additional feedback) image.png

It would be nice to have some statistics on screen mid-run, particularly for late game runs. Statistics such as currently hexed villagers, total inquisitors defeated (once you have the appropriate upgrade) and basically the rest of the stuff on the results screen from the image above. (Only display information that is relevant based on unlocked upgrades)

A quick pop-up when you complete the first objective (66 souls in one run) to draw attention to the sins feature would be nice. I did a couple extra runs before obtaining that first sin (and respective upgrade) because I was too focused on getting the upgrades lol.

Hovering the cursor over the locked areas (top right, upgrades page) should tell you what is required to unlock them. Seems to be souls spent, but I’m not entirely sure. Or clicking on them, that works too.

More. Just more. I love this. I want more. More upgrades, more stages, more everything. This is great and I want more. Well done, seriously.

Thank you very much for playing and for such detailed feedback, I'll definitely improve the UX/UI. As for the rest... I'll see how this version performs

took me half an hour to notis that you can zoom out

Yeah, I definitely need to make a better tutorial

finished in approximatelly 15 mins. Idea is so cool, so original. I’m mad because I couldn’t come up with the 7 deadly sins logic 😝

And a func fact; I’ve been developing an incremental game for the last 3 months with the same asset pack 😄 I’m releasin on next month hopefully!

Good luck! These assets are great, and it would be great to be first on the market with them! I also like incremental games so I'm looking forward to playing it.

I will update you when I have the demo!

Really fun game, reminds me of old flash games like Infectonator.

I would like a button to reset my save game to retry different starts.

Oh, good idea. Thanks!

I played some more in a private browser. Some feedback:

  • At later stages we wait long time while the inquisition shows up and beats everyone
  • Maybe some damage or action indicators would be fun to see specials trigger
  • I would like to be able to toggle and scale the cursor (up to unlocked size)
  • More can be done with the Spread mechanic? It is the most fun to infect only a few and see if it spreads fast enough.
  • More maps, with interesting layouts.
  • More special units
  • Capturable points that do cool stuff if it is occupied

Anyway, really fun, works well.

Wow, these are very good ideas. Such feedback is always very valuable. Thanks again

fun stuff! great concept, really liked the progression system, although at one point it definitely slowed down.

Thnx. This is the first time I've decided to make an incremental game and yes, the balance is especially difficult to maintain towards the end.

Cool game, great UI.

Thanks

Genuinely a phenomenal game! Loads of fun to play

Thnx

great ! waiting steam ver to add to wishlist ;)

Thanks for the positive feedback. I'll see how the game performs on the jam first and then maybe I'll develop it further.

Lots of blood, there comes a point where it's just blood and more blood, and I have to watch it because there's no skip. The game is very well represented.

Yes, thanks for the feedback, in the end I accelerated the time to solve it, I hope it's better
